Hi everyone,
I was supposed to post a bit of news this week end, but it didn't happen. And why didn't it happen? Simply because Jenny and I were able to see each other for the first time since the beginning of the training! (Thank you Skype :) And I have to admit, seeing her made me forgot about the blog. Sorry guys...
I have a bit of news to share. First, Jenny was in command of her flight last Friday. That means she was in charge of making everyone march, turn and stop at the same time. She did ok for her first time. I can barely imagine how hard it must be to make sure the group is moving as one whole unit. Sometimes, I have trouble moving just by myself...Being in charge is a lot of stress, but thankfully, it was just for one day. She might have to do it again before the end of the program, though.
During OTS, Jenny is also in charge of the computers, not only for her flight, but for the whole squadron (bunch of flights). So if anyone has a computer problem, that person has to run by Jenny. She works under the supervision of one or two other guys and has a good relationship with the head of the computer department.
On a more concerning matter, Jenny started to experience great pain in her neck, specially during PT. So painful in fact that she felt her head was going to explode and she had to stop what she was doing. Everyone who knows Jenny, knows that almost nothing can make her stop in the middle of a run, or a series of push-ups. But she stopped and that was a great concern for her (and myself !). After several days of stretching, the pain was still present so she reported it and saw a doctor on Monday morning. Verdict: she was experiencing High Blood Pressure caused by tension in her neck. She's seeing a chiropractor to help her. Jenny can still run but is not allowed to do upper body exercises (sit-ups, push-ups). When I talked to her yesterday night, the pain had faded but was still there. Please pray that it goes away entirely.
Last but not least, as we start week 3, I want to remind everyone that graduation is coming up. A parade and a graduation ceremony will take place on Friday 28th, at Maxwell AFB (Montgomery, AL). It is open to family and friends, so if you're reading this blog, you're definitely invited to join us on that very special day. We'll love to see you!
Here a picture of Jenny from last week. Isn't she beautiful?
That kind of pain in the neck is NO FUN! I'm thankful you got to see a chiropractor, Jenny, and pray you get to go again. I'm also glad the Dr. said no upper body exercises; I imagine nothing short of Dr's orders would get you off. Praying you get back to normal with no residual pain.
ReplyDeleteJean-Marc, the one bright spot in this is that you were nowhere near her, so we all know you're innocent: YOU aren't a pain in the neck! :)
I wish I could plant a kiss on your cheek, Jenny! I'm so proud of you for doing this, and right now I'm imagining you being in charge of your flight and making them all march in time. So much responsibility, but glad it went well. You'll have to demonstrate on all of us when we see you--see if you can whip us into military shape!

ReplyDeleteSo glad to catch up on what is going on through this blog. I lost the address of the blog for a while but am back and subscribed now so I won't miss anything.
Wow, what an adventure. Jenny, I am so proud of you. You are one tough cookie to endure such physical and emotional and mental strain. The best part is that Spiritually, you are taken care of by the one and only Creator.
I will continue to pray for your strength. I will especially pray for your healing as well. You are in my thoughts. And btw, you have a husband who obviously loves you VERY much. What a blessing.
Looking forward to seeing you soon, I hope!
